Difference Between Chemical and Physical Properties

A physical property is a characteristic of a substance that does not involve changing to another substance or no reaction takes place.  these properties include color, density, hardness, and melting and boiling points. while chemical properties are the properties that do not change the chemical nature of matter. these are usually observed during a chemical reaction. the Difference Between Chemical and Physical Properties is that chemical properties have a direct relationship with the chemical bonds and they do not depend upon the amount of substance. on the other hand, physical properties do not have a direct relationship to the chemicals bonds of a substance. physical properties may or may not depend on the amount of substance.

those properties that can be measured and observed when any substance undergoes are known as chemical properties. properties that can only be observed and cannot be measured are known as physical properties. they do not bring chemical change when substances undergo.
it needs to show their property when conducted. it does not need to show their property. in other words, no chemical reactions are needed for it.
these properties directly have relationships with chemical bonds. they do not need any relationship with chemical bonds. as they are simple reactions that do not bring change in the composition of mixtures.
the prediction of different substances that how they react can be found with the help of chemical properties. these properties normally describe and identify only the different substances that do not give any idea about how they react.
combustion, Compressibility, toxicity, flammability, the heat of reactivity between chemicals, radioactivity, etc. are some common examples of chemical properties of a substance. Molecular weight, mass, length, boiling point, melting point, freezing point, volume, color, odor, shape, solubility, density texture, etc. are some common examples of the physical properties of a substance.
these properties can be measured only by changing a substance’s chemical identity. these properties can be measured without changing a substance’s chemical identity.
the structure of material always changes due to the chemical properties. the structure of a material does not change due to its physical properties.

What are Chemical Properties?

The chemical properties have a direct relationship with the chemical bonds and they do not depend upon the amount of substance. A chemical property is the measuring of the property of a substance that causes a change in the chemical behavior of the substance.

It shows the ability of a substance to combine with other components or substances to transfer into a different product. For example, energy is released in heat of combustion when a compound is undergone complete combustion with oxygen.

The heat of combustion is represented by ΔHc. the substance turns into a different substance depending upon changing the chemical composition. toxicity, flammability, the heat of combustion, reactivity, viscosity, buoyancy, radioactivity, etc. are some examples of chemical properties.

What are Physical Properties?

The property that can only be observed and cannot be measured is known as physical property.  It does not bring chemical change when substances undergo and the structure of a material does not change. Physical Properties do not need to show their property, in other words, no chemical reactions are needed for it.

The appearance and dimension of the matter can be described by using physical properties. Further, physical properties are divided into two types i.e. intensive properties and extensive properties. odor, color, shape, volume,  shape, boiling point, freezing point, mass, length, temperature, melting point, solubility, etc. are some examples of physical properties.
