we explain that a compound is the composition of elements present in a fixed ratio. whereas a mixture is the composition of elements that is not present in a fixed ratio. the basic Difference Between Compound And Mixture is that energy is usually involved when a compound is formed, the properties of compounds are different from those of their elements. on the other hand, mixtures are not chemically bonded and ratios of components may vary. in mixtures, there is no energy transfer.

What is a compound?

A compound is a chemical substance created by when two or more chemical elements are bound together by chemical bonds. the universe is composed of the atoms of matter of more than 100 different chemical elements which are found in pure form and combined in chemical compounds.

Any pure element is composed only of the characteristic of atoms of that element and atoms of each element are unique. E.g. atoms of carbon are different from iron.

In a chemical reaction, different atoms combine together and form chemical compounds. E.g. The compound that is used on regular basis including sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium chloride (Na₂CO₃, commonly found in manufacturing paper, soap, glass, and photography), etc. are some examples of the compound.

What is a mixture?

A mixture is a substance composed of two or more forms of matter and can be separated by physical method. A mixture is a substance that is not combined chemically. The components of the mixture keep their original properties and the proportion of components is variable. There are two most common types of mixtures i.e. homogenous mixture and heterogeneous mixtures.

Crude oil, ink. air, gunpowder, sand, and water, ethanol in water, etc. are examples of mixtures. In mixtures, the components are not formed through any kind of chemical changes.
