Difference Between Element And Compound

we explain that an element is a pure chemical substance that consists of only one kind of atom, whereas a compound contains atoms of different elements chemically combined together and always has more than one kind of atom. the basic Difference Between Element And Compound is that an element cannot be disintegrated further into fine particles by any chemical method and shows the same properties as that of constituent particles. on the other hand, a compound can be reduced down into simpler substances by using the chemical method and its properties are totally different from its constituents.

E.g. Iron, copper, hydrogen, and oxygen, Copper, Gold, etc. E.g. Water (H2O), Sodium Chloride (NaCl), NaOH, etc.
These are pure substances that are composed of only one type of atom. These are substances that are formed by two or more different types of elements that are mixed chemically in a fixed ratio.

Elements cannot be broken chemically. Compounds can be broken down chemically.
Elements are distinguished by their atomic number. Compounds are distinguished by the fixed ratio of different elements.

What is an element?

An element is a pure substance or chemical material consisting only of atoms that all have the same numbers of protons in their atomic nuclei. The particles of elements have the same atomic number in the periodic table. Elements cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means.

Elements are classified into three types i.e. metals, non–metals and metalloids. The metal has properties of electro-conductivity, magnetic, malleable, shiny, etc. Non-metal elements are located on the right side of the periodic table.

Nonmetals are not malleable, not magnetic, not electro-conductive, and shiny. Metalloids have mixed properties of metals and nonmetals i.e. silicon and arsenic. Elements can only be changed into other elements using nuclear methods.

What is a compound?

A compound is a chemical material or substance formed when two or more chemical elements are chemically bonded together. Two or more atoms or elements combine chemically to form a compound. In ionic and covalent bonds the elements are connected in the compounds.

For example, Pure water is a compound made from two elements (hydrogen and oxygen) or table salt is a compound made from two elements (sodium and chlorine).

A Compound can be decomposed chemically into its constituent elements. Pure chemical compounds do not exist generally in the real world.
