Difference Between Ethanol and Methanol

Ethanol is a simple alcohol organic chemical compound that is an important industrial chemical with the chemical formula C₂H₆O. while Methanol is the simplest alcohol that is a light, volatile, colorless, flammable liquid with a distinctive alcoholic odor similar to that of ethanol with the formula CH₃OH. the basic Difference Between Ethanol and Methanol is that ethanol is a weak acid than water, which is produced by the fermentation of sugars by yeast.  on the other hand, methanol has a level of acidity slightly higher than water. methanol is produced synthetically through catalyst carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen.

it is produced when different food crops are carried to the factories for fermentation purposes. the main source of methanol is the synthetic process.
different beverages use methanol as their primary ingredient. methanol is very poisonous hence it cannot be used for beverages or any other usage. it is pretty fit for the manufacturing of products like formaldehyde etc.

Manufacturing solvents, antibacterial gels, plastics, medications, perfumes, and cosmetics are other industrial applications. Ethanol is a hazardous chemical and is used extensively. it is an extremely flammable chemical.

Methanol

Methanol is also alcohol that is consists of a carbon bond methyl group at the end of its structure. Methanol is a rich or higher acid when compared to water regarding its acidity and its main source is the synthetic process. Methanol is made up of a methyl group that is attached to a hydroxy group known as methyl alcohol.

it is sweeter than alcohol, milder, and has a distinctive odor. it is volatile and colorless. methanol is toxic and its consumption can cause blindness. It is extremely used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and acetic acid.
