Difference Between Molecule And Compound

A molecule is an electrically neutral group of two or more atoms join together which formed a chemical bond. a molecule may consist of two atoms of the same element. molecules are the smallest particles/units of a compound that retain the characteristics of a compound. while a compound contains the atoms of different elements chemically formed by chemically bonding two or more chemical elements. the main Difference Between Molecule And Compound is that the structure of molecules are simply a group of atoms that are bonded by a strong force e.g. ozone (O3) whereas the structure of a compound is the actual matter in their complete shape e.g. table salt (NaCl).

the atoms in a molecule can be of one element like oxygen (O2) or they can be of different chemical elements like water (H2O).on the other hand, in organic matter, molecules are common which allow the creation of life-giving elements like water and CO2

molecules are combined together by different chemical bonds such as covalent and ionic bonds. a covalent bond is one that involves exchanging electron pairs between two atoms. the bonds that are resulted due to the covalent bonds are considered more stable, balanced of the attractive and repulsive force between forces. while ionic bonds are those types of bonds that are made when atoms lose or gain one or more than one electron.

these attractions of electrons are called electrostatic attractions between oppositely charged ions. when atoms lost one or more electrons in ionic bonds, they are said to be cations and when they gain one or more electrons are known as an anion. this phenomenon is regarded as electrovalent.

What is a Compound?

a chemical compound is a complex substance that consists of chemically bonded atoms of two or more elements. some simple substances are made compounds and some complex chemical substances make compounds. no matter simple or complex, in each case they consist of different atoms made by covalent bonds.

compounds are the mixture of different elements and are qualitatively new properties that are not limited to the properties of participant elements regarding their composition.

mixtures are also formed with combinations of several chemical compounds. those chemical mixtures that are made with only a single chemical compound are known as pure chemicals.
